Updated 8/21/18 @ 12 p.m.
There are still a few openings on the schedule for design-related sessions. If you’d like to pitch a topic, we’d love to hear from you. The speaker application deadline has been extended to September 2 for design-related topics.
We’re excited to open the call for speakers for WordCamp Boise 2019!
We gathered a general list of ideas and topics our audience might be interested in on our Become a Speaker page for your inspiration. If you have a topic you’re passionate about or are an expert in something we haven’t mentioned, don’t hesitate to apply! We are accepting talks from all areas of expertise and are also open to hearing from relevant experts from outside the WordPress world.
How long should your presentation be?
We are planning the following session formats:
- Long talks – 40 minutes in total, breaking down to around 30 minutes for talk and 10 minutes for questions.
- Lightning talks – 10-15 minutes each, grouped with related topics.
- Workshops – hands-on experience, typically more than an hour in length.
Do you need to be an experienced speaker to apply?
Whether you’ve never spoken at a camp before, or you’re a regular, we welcome all types of talks, from all ages. A few points our speakers agree on are…
- Public speaking experience is not required, just passion and deep knowledge about your topic
- Presentations need to be relevant to WordPress in some significant way
- Be respectful of the open community, and not make a talk be a hard sales pitch
