Rachel Cherry announced as Keynote Speaker

Today, we’re very excited to announce our keynote speaker, Rachel Cherry!

Rachel (she/her) is a freelance software engineer and consultant with a focus on accessibility, Higher Education, and WordPress. She is the director of WP Campus, a community and conferences for web professionals, educators and people dedicated to the confluence of WordPress in higher education.

Rachel is an accomplished speaker, who has delivered several other WordCamp keynotes and presentations, and spoken at many other events. I personally have seen her speak a few times and I’m thrilled that she accepted our invitation to headline WordCamp Boise!

    skills in information design, journalism and web development.

    Jeremy Felt is a web developer and co-owner of Happy Prime, a strategic web agency. He created VVV, an open-source development environment for WordPress now led by two (fantastic) lead developers. He has been contributing to WordPress for over seven years and has spent much of that time exploring multisite’s depths, problems, and possibilities.

    Jeremy believes in community, sharing your work, and free and open-source software. He enjoys finding ways to solve problems in all three.

    Link Porterfield is the Founding Member of epic.network who works with small business owners to lighten their technology burden by providing experienced management and guidance.
    Link knows it can be overwhelming to keep up with both the rapidly changing landscape of technology in the workplace and the demanding requirements of its continual upkeep, yet it can be disastrous to ignore either. His business interests keep him immersed in those critical areas and he enjoys being able to implement that knowledge for his customers so they can focus on running their business. Link is a seasoned Linux administrator with two decades of experience in managing online services. He is enthusiastic about open source software and system integration. He is a Microsoft Cloud Solutions Provider and a Xero Certified Advisor. He has been a member of the Boise WordPress MeetUp since 2016 and volunteers as a co-organizer.     Mike Ebert has been developing and marketing websites for 15 years and has been using WordPress since 2009. He has been an agency founder, in-house web developer, consultant, and freelancer. Now he’s co-founder of Luhnar, a company focused on democratizing innovative cloud tech, starting with a smart CDN. When he’s not doing Internet stuff, he enjoys camping in the wilds of Idaho, board games, model rockets, and spending time with his wife and six kids.

  • Tracy Lay

    Designer, Trekkie, animal lover, and snarky introvert, Tracy Lay is the owner of digiVisual design, a boutique design experience helping entrepreneurs level up their branding to attract their perfect-fit people. WordCamp Boise tickets now on sale!

Ticket sales for WordCamp Boise are now open. We can’t wait for you to join us, November 15-16, 2019, at Boise State University. Tickets are $40, and they cover 2+ days of programming including but not limited to:

  • Over 30 speaker presentations, including a pre-Camp workshop on Thursday.
  • Lunch and all-day beverage station (coffee, tea, water) on Friday and Saturday.
  • Our After Party held Saturday evening.

WordCamp Boise 2019 Schedule

On Thursday, Nov. 14, the day before WordCamp Boise “officially” starts, we’ll have a beginner workshop about creating a website without code. And then WordCamp Boise kicks off on Friday, Nov. 15, with two full days of sessions, networking opportunities, and more.

As I write this, we’re confirming our speaker lineup and the schedule is almost ready to be released. We’re excited for this amazing group of people to share their knowledge with all our WordCamp Boise attendees.

We are looking for non-technical and technical help. Learn more in our call for volunteers blog post.

Call for Volunteers

WordCamp Boise’s success will be in large part due to the help of all our community members! We are looking for non-technical and technical help. Let us know how you’d like to help.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Registration/tickets
    • Typically a morning duty.
  • Room runners
    • Help presenters and organizers with misc. needs.
  • Emcees
    • Introduce presenters, keep everything on schedule. Knowledge of WordPress jokes a plus.
  • Schedule monitor
    • Responsible for keeping posted schedules on room doors current throughout the day.
  • Answer Qs at the Happiness Bar
    • Our goal is to have the Happiness Bar staffed as consistently as possible throughout the event.
  • Video editing (after WordCamp Boise has concluded)
    • We’ll train you! The sessions will be professionally recorded but we need some help reviewing the recordings and make basic edits.
